British Columbia Snow Adventures
British Columbia maintains its superiority as the world’s best cat-skiing destination; not surprising, considering the sport was born here in the Kootenay Rockies. You’ll ski or board anywhere from 9,000-16,000 vertical feet a day - they're seriously long runs for serious skiers.
Skiing in general is very hot in British Columbia, and the slopes have always been well worth the trip, with wide ranges of difficulty and some of the most gorgeous views in the world. With the announcement of Vancouver hosting the 2010 Winter Games, British Columbia made their skiing even more enticing with the Peak 2 Peak Gondola linking the Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. That’s two famously fantastic ski runs within easy reach of your poles. It’s not to be missed.
Dog sledding
If skiing and snowboarding aren’t your cup of tea, there’s plenty of other activities to keep you having the time of your life when the powder’s still fresh. Dog sledding is one of Canada’s favorite fun activities, and it’s well worth learning to maneuver a sled behind a team of huskies. Or, you could always try your hand (or feet) at snowshoeing to hike into the wilderness and get up close and personal with nature.
