Take them out for a ride on the mini-train at Elmira or to one of the region’s many lighthouses, where they can hear stories of how ships have been saved from many a storm. The region is rich in arts and crafts, festivals and farming. Take your kids out for a day to learn about farm life in the old days and how many traditions still carry on. In the autumn, they can participate in the harvest and come out to one of the many festivals celebrating everything from music, agriculture, dancing, seafood, and – naturally – Anne of Green Gables herself.
